One could feel sorry for the guy

It looks like Barack Obama will be the Democrats' presidential candidate after very many primaries where the popular votes were divided about evenly between him and Hillary Clinton and a great deal of shenanigans among unelected delegates (known for reasons I have not quite understood as superdelegates). Oh and Florida (together with Michigan) is reduced to half a vote per delegate. That would be the Florida whose votes were of such importance to Al Gore and the Democrats in 2000. All recounts said the same - the majority went to Bush. Gore should have thought of the obvious and suggested that those who vote Republican be given but half a vote.

Anyway, that is the way it is and we shall watch the general election with interest. Well, I shall. My colleague does not share my fascination with American politics.

It so happens that I find it very hard to do anything but laugh very hard at Obama's many gaffes, some very serious, some less so but even I get the odd twinge of compassion when I look at his supporters.

Jeremiah Wright and that church; Bill Ayres, erstwhile and unrepentant Weatherman; Tony Rezko, guilty on four of first five counts guilty on 16 of 24 counts involving mail/wire fraud, money laundering, and corrupt solicitation charges; Hamas, though they are apparently distancing themselves from their orignal support; and now, the unkindest cut of all, our own special loser, George Galloway.

Michelle Malkin directs us to Little Green Footballs, who, in turn quotes somewhat less than gorgeous George as he appeared on Al-Aqsa TV, home of that psychotic mouse, homicidal bee and cannibal rabbit.

I suppose one could say that by their friends shall you know them but, honestly, not even Obama deserves this. Then again, he does have a terrific history of throwing unwanted supporters under the proverbial bus.
